Packing line Modernization in factory of global sweets producer

Using our earlier experiences with packing machines we undertook the hard task of complex modernization of six packing machines working at chocolate bar producing line. Main golas of this modernization were:

• replacement of old system with modern solution with advanced programable funtions, drive functions and diagnostics,
• elimination of traditional and defective registration system by appliance servodrive based control over rolls which pulls the foil,
• equipment in safety systems compatible with current standards, CE marking,
• adaptation to hand-shaking with master system, printer, metal detector,
• possibility of flexible introduction of new product, recepies system,
• easy machine diagnostics,
• adaptation to the corporate standards.

Machines were equipped with advanced Allen Bradley control systems and drives. Multi-axes Kinetix 6000 Servo System and MPL family motors were used to realize drive tasks. The system was designed modularly in order to fit the application requirements, power consumption, optimization and communication between the axes. System communicates with PLC Controller over SERCOS fiber optic network and locally by I/O Modules. Combined with the CompactLogix Controller ensures realization of most demanding aplications. By upgrading all the machines client gained significant savings in foil, fast changeover time for a new product, a complete diagnosis of the control system and greater productivity.
